Doing Partial Water Changes |
Doing partial water changes weekly is critical to the success of your pond. You should do a minimum of 20% and as much as 50% depending on the load of fish, if there's been spawning happening, etc.Think about your pond as a toilet with your fish living in it. The fish are eating and then pooping/peeing in the water--and if you don't ever flush out the dirty water--it just gets polluted ultimately kills your fish. Some folks think that water evaporates from the pond and then they canjust add fresh water in it, and that counts as a partial water change. No! All you've done is DILUTED the toilet bowl a bit, you haven't REMOVED the nasty stuff.Don't be lazy. Do weekly water changes! |
